Doljabi
You dressed me up and sat me down
In front of so many strangers
Who cheered as if I could choose my future
I considered a while:
Will humans still doctor when I grow up?
Is it a felony to pick someone else’s passport?
Why is this pencil so outlandishly large?
The onlookers grew restless
As you moved me closer to the objects
Apparently, I’m supposed to just know what my heart wants
One year in, I already understand:
You will wonder what you could have done differently
But I will not blame you for my failings;
Our parents cannot prevent our bad choices
Fuck it, let’s go with the giant pencil
